Why is bitdefender blocking websites
Of course, you are going to change that in the Dashboard. So, first of all, you have to open the main interface of Bitdefender product you are using. In our screenshots, we have used Bitdefender Total Security , which comes with all options of Web Protection. In the page, you can see the list of available modules of the Bitdefender Security program. Click on that icon to move forward. That is where you can add a particular URL to white-list of Bitdefender security product.
You should be seeing a pop-up window in the next second. Here, you can add the desired website to the whitelist of your Bitdefender product. In the same way, you will be able to remove that URL. It means you have added the URL to whitelist. So, this is how you are going to whitelist a particular webpage or application in the Bitdefender Security suite. As we said, the process is pretty simple to understand and do.
However, you should do this with ultimate care, if possible. Like we had said, adding a malicious website to the Whitelist will cause you a lot of harm than you imagine.
Just think of having a phishing website to the whitelist and thus losing your security in the end. So, keeping all these things in mind, do this with conscious sense. We are the Team AI and we love to play with computers. She's technically adept, knows about resolution and image sizes, and at expert at scanning having done it for years on the same system configuration with plenty of memory.
When she has a problem, it isn't going to be something simple like too high a resolution or some minor user error. I reproduced the problem. Checked for recent installs: No recent driver updates, no Windows yet, so lacking anything else to try, I started disabling running programs one at a time.
I finally reached the point of disabling BitDefender, not expecting any better results. That was it. The scan completed in seconds. This is weird because there is nothing going on involving the network much less the internet.
Thinking about using Windows Defender as it's much better than it used to be I can't believe I'm saying that out loud. Uninstall it and use Kapserky or Kaspersky Free instead. In Kapserky all you have to do is choose 'Additional' then go to 'Network' and check it to never do encryption scan if you are facing this issue. That's it. The safe sites in Firefox were blocked by Bitdefender Free It also blocks System Restore. I couldn't have either one of those issues so I switched back to Kaspersky.
So far, so good. I encountered this issue and in my attempt to find a solution, I got one from Bitdefender that worked for me. Here's the link to the solution. This just happened to me right after bitdefender update on June 2.
Many websites report insecure connection using firefox, when using bitdefender free as I have been for a while. It's still blocking many websites if protection shield is on so I pretty much have to keep it off whenever I'm on the web. Time to try a new one.
I dropped AVG a long time ago due to the invasive popups, it seems Kaspersky might be the only decent free one without it so I'll try them out now. Brand Representative for Avast Business. But there own check crashes. This issue of https sites being blocked by BitDefender Free Edition is still happening. This issue has not presented itself on all machines however, making it unclear as to what is going on. My experience is the same as other users in this thread - turn off BitDefender, and https sites load just fine. Enabling it again consistently produces the same outcome - blocking https. I did run into one site that actually did have an expired certificate, but the others, such as Google have no such issues.
BTW, for the record, Kaspersky Free Edition includes popup messages about various things they offer, and to my knowledge there is no way to block them other than to tell Windows to hide notifications from that module. To one of the previous posters regarding 'free' - you are correct, sir.
Free isn't really free - you just haven't figured out how you are paying. The machines that experience the problem with BitDefender Free Edition still behave the same way. No fix from BitDefender as of yet. As of this writing, it's been about 2 weeks since this started happening. I've been using this version for at least 7 years with very few problems. If TrafficLight prevents you from accessing a page that you believe is safe, remove the block for that website or temporarily disable TrafficLight's protection features.
You can also disable the extension entirely if you are still unable to access the website. Click the "I understand the risks, take me there anyway" at the bottom of the "TrafficLight blocked this page" warning screen. This disables the blocking for that website and allows you to proceed. If this method does not produce the desired result, continue.
